Are we here by chance?

    I haven't actually discussed this with classmates as it usually ends badly if it's a class discussion lol. I was curious how someone in the research community perceives this issue in particular regarding evolutionary biology.

    Personally, we cannot and should not discount the possibility of intelligent design. To simply toss it out the window is just bad science. Would it be acceptable to toss out every theory that is controversial (such as the earth being round or the sun being the centre of the universe)? No.

    We do discuss religion/personal beliefs in relation to our practice (future practice) and that always ends up as a huge controversy. lol

    I have discovered that outside of the Indian community, a large number of my classmates are agnostic or atheist which is really interesting.
