The child not was not due until Jan 9 but Sgt Clerfe left Iraq on Dec 23 headed to Kuwait and then onto Turkey, Germany, and then arrived in the US. After arriving in the US he boarded flights in Baltimore; Atlanta; Alexandria, Louisiana; Dallas-Fort Worth; and Phoenix before finally reaching Monterey, California, on Dec. 31. The next day his wife went into labor with the child being born at 9:23 am and being the first child born of the new year at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula.

That's awesome! I'm glad he made it in time, but of course I'm curious as to why he had so me many hops within the US. Price? Again... I'm glad he made it and that Mom and baby are well.
