It's a lot of things and not all black men have these traits, but those that do I find very attractive. Physically, it is the muscularity, the deep voice, the dark skin, but there is also a certain "coolness" (there aren't many black geeks, but there are a helluva lot of white ones), a healthy sexual ability (white men can have quite a few sexual hangups), and even in the most well adjusted individual, a sensitivity in the area of racial inequity. I think that people who have experienced injustice or pain in their lives are much deeper souls than their more shallow counterparts on the anglo side. Not that every black male experiences this on a deep level or that all white men are shallow, but it is there for the black male and tends to lend to the development of the male psyche. It's a less than positive cause of a very positive character trait. Does that make sense? I also see that a lot of black men have a healthy respect for their mothers and the women they love. There isn't the same gender/role assignments in black males as there are with white males. That is a generalization based on my own experience, but I have not been expected to fill the role of housekeeper by the black men I've been with, only by the white.
